Marina Barnes

Unpreserved Donor Lead
Biography

Bio

Marina graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Program of Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota in 2015 and is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health and State of Wisconsin as a mortician. Prior to joining the Anatomy Bequest Program in 2021, Marina served as a funeral director in the East Metro for several years.

Marina is responsible for working with internal and external end users to support their clinical training and research needs. She works closely with biomedical device researchers, clinical skills educators, and various University departments who request access to anatomical material for their research. Marina assigns donors for study events, works diligently to ensure they fit the research parameters, and leads the unpreserved team in ensuring proper preparation of donors to meet and exceed the training and research needs of the program’s end users.

Marina appreciates seeing the positive impact of the studies we support, hearing about the advancements in the medical industry, and witnessing the professional training of current and future medical practitioners.
